Arnold Schwarzenegger admits doing ‘nasty things’ to Sylvester Stallone until one good idea ended their feud

Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted having mutual hatred for Sylvester Stallone while both actors were emerging stars in the 80s.

The famous duo’s feud fizzled by the 2000s, but the former governor of California admitted saying “nasty things” about Stallone early in his career.

“We hated each other. We were kind of attacking each other and doing nasty things and saying nasty things about each other and all these stupid things,” Schwarzenegger told Andy Cohen on Sirius XM’s “Radio Andy.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger had a mutual “hatred” for Sylvester Stallone in the 1980s.

Stallone and Schwarzenegger mended their relationship prior to starring in the 2013 movie “Escape Plan” after their big business venture.

“The next thing I know is I get a phone call from my lawyer, who was also Sly’s lawyer. He said, ‘Arnold, is there any kind of room for Sly in Planet Hollywood?’” he told Cohen.

After thinking about the proposal, Schwarzenegger recalled admitting it was “actually a good idea, because it could bring us together. And I wanted that. At that point, I had grown out of my craziness.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone famously feuded but have since become friends.

The Planet Hollywood restaurant chain was backed by the two stars and other investors. They launched their first restaurant in New York in 1991.

Schwarzenegger said he and the “Rocky” star “made it work” when it came to business.

In addition to the Planet Hollywood collaboration, Arnold, Bruce and Sylvester starred in “The Expendables” together.

Stallone discussed his side of the feud in “TMZ Presents: Arnold & Sly: Rivals, Friends,” which aired in 2024.

He recalled thinking when Schwarzenegger emerged in Hollywood he finally had a bit of competition.

“Finally, something to motivate me. Because he is, dare I say it, competition, a threat, whatever word you wanna use. As soon as I saw him, it was like bang, two alphas hitting,” Stallone said.

During the special, Schwarzenegger also revealed he tricked Stallone into taking a part in the 1992 film, “Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.”

Anticipating the movie would flop – it did – Schwarzenegger and his agent concocted a plan.

“First of all, when we talk about the movie, I didn’t talk him into [it] because I never talked to him about it,” Schwarzenegger said.

“But it was very clear that his agent was telling my agent, ‘Look, Sly is interested in doing it, but I don’t know if it’s the right thing for him. Let me know what you guys are thinking.’ And then my agent said, ‘Well you know, Arnold really loves it. I think it’s fantastic.’

“So, then I called Roger Spottiswoode, who was the director, who just did the James Bond movie. So, he was kind of the hot director [at the time],” Schwarzenegger recalled.

Phaedra Parks Says RHOA Lost the ‘Fun’ and She’s Bringing It Back

Season 16 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta has been an improvement. The return of Porsha Williams and Cynthia Bailey in a friend capacity has helped elevate this season. In addition, Shamea Morton claimed her peach, which allowed her to finally step into the spotlight. Plus, Phaedra Parks is back, and she added an extra spark. Now, Phaedra is discussing Season 16 of RHOA and what she brought to the table.

Phaedra Parks wants to authentically enjoy herself in life

Phaedra isn’t planning on turning in her peach anytime soon. This mortician, lawyer, and mom is planning to stay involved in the show for the “long haul.” And she is making the most of the experience. “I’m introducing what I think the series lost: fun, fabulousness, and just authentically enjoying yourself in life. I have several jobs, and I continue to expand my little empire,” Phaedra told OK!. “So, my fortress is growing.”

And seeing Phaedra and Porsha reunited once again as “frick and frack” has been a hoot. “Frick and frack is back. It’s Phaedra 2.0,” she explained. “I’m not with a crazy husband, and I got a new, young, and sparky boyfriend who’s just cute.” She added of her sons Ayden and Dylan, “My kids are at an age where they speak their minds, which I don’t know if I enjoy that.”

Phaedra teased that RHOA viewers will see her pre-teen son, Dylan, launch his own business. “They’re little entrepreneurs,” Phaedra stated. “So, this season, you’ll not only see me continuing to work my many jobs, but you’ll see my youngest son launch his clothing line.”

Meanwhile, shade assassin Kenya Moore shaded Phaedra amid reports that Episode 12’s ratings hit a series low. Of course, Kenya quit the show during filming after she was suspended for allegedly showing photos of RHOA co-star Brit Eady performing a sexual act.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs on Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo and on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.

Fed holds interest rates for fourth time despite tariff turmoil

People and businesses in the US have faced a whirlwind of policy change in recent months. But one thing has remained fixed: borrowing costs set by the US central bank.

The Federal Reserve stuck with that strategy on Wednesday, leaving its key interest rate unchanged, even as officials’ expectations for the economy worsened.

The decision marked the fourth in a row without action, keeping the bank’s influential lending rate hovering around 4.3%, where it has stood since December.

That came despite forecasts from policymakers suggesting they expect slower growth, higher unemployment and faster inflation than they did just a few months ago.

Typically, the Fed lowers borrowing costs if it believes the economy is struggling and raises them if prices start to rise too quickly.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly called on the Fed to cut interest rates, while pushing major changes to economic policy, including raising tariffs on goods from around the world.

Fed officials, who are empowered to set interest rates independent of the White House, have said they are worried that a one-time jump in prices due to those new levies could morph into a more persistent problem.

Inflation, the pace of price increases, remains above the Fed’s 2% target, coming in at 2.4% in May.

Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell said the bank was braced for prices to rise more quickly in the months ahead as firms start to pass on the cost of the import taxes to their customers.

“That process is very hard to predict,” he said, noting that it would depend on how big the tariffs are and their duration.

“That is why we think the appropriate thing to do is hold where we are.”

He said the bank could afford to wait, noting that the economy overall remained “solid” and the unemployment rate remains low at 4.2%.

But projections released by the Fed showed that policymakers, on average, are expecting growth to slow to 1.4% this year, down from 2.5% last year and the 1.7% they were forecasting in March.

The forecasts call for inflation of roughly 3%, up from the 2.7% predicted in March and a rise in the unemployment rate to 4.5%.

The outlook for interest rate cuts in 2025 did not change significantly, with a majority of members still expecting rates to drop just below 4% by the end of the year.

But the projections anticipate slightly higher rates in 2026 and 2027 than previously forecasted.

In remarks on Wednesday ahead of the Fed’s decision, Trump repeated his criticism of Powell, calling him “stupid” and “too late” to act, while speculating about the end of his term.

The European Central Bank has cut interest rates eight times since last June. The Bank of England cut borrowing costs last month but is expected to hold rates steady this week.

But Isaac Stell, investment manager at Wealth Club, said Trump may have “talked himself into a bit of a bind”, as the Fed stays committed to its wait-and-see approach.

“Central bankers tend to jealously guard their independence, which means that unless there’s a really compelling reason to cut they might just stay sat on the fence,” he said.

Fed interest rate decisions determine what it charges banks for short-term loans.

That rate in turn has significant influence over borrowing costs across the economy, informing what regular banks end up charging households and businesses for mortgages and other kinds of loans.

At 4.3%, the Fed’s benchmark interest rate remains markedly higher than it was between 2008 and 2022, when the bank started to hike rates in response to rising prices.

But it is roughly a percentage point lower than where it stood last year.

Dominican prosecutors in Wander Franco trial seek 5-year prison sentence

PUERTO PLATA, Dominican Republic (AP) — Dominican prosecutors requested on Monday that suspended Tampa Bay Rays player Wander Franco, who faces charges of sexual abuse involving a girl who was 14 years old at the time of the alleged crimes, be sentenced to five years in prison.

The prosecutors said in court there is sufficient evidence to prove Franco had a relationship with the minor for four months and that he transferred large sums of money to the minor’s mother to consent to the illegal relationship.

During raids on the house of the minor’s mother, prosecutors say they found $68,500 and $35,000 that they allege was delivered by Franco.

“We are requesting a five-year prison sentence for the proven crime of sexual abuse against a minor,” said prosecutor José Martínez.

The prosecutors also requested that Wander be sentenced to prison in Puerto Plata and that the minor’s mother be sentenced to 10 years in prison, arguing she sexually trafficked her daughter.

In a previous hearing, prosecutors described the evidence presented as “convincing” and “compelling.”

“What is Wander? Is he an accomplice of Vanessa or is he the material author of the criminal conspiracy offense?” said Irina Ventura, one of Franco’s lawyers arguing ambiguities on the part of the prosecutors.

Franco’s lawyers also asked the court to clear Franco of the charges and to dismiss the case.

After the closing arguments from both, the collegiate court of Puerto Plata, in northern Dominican Republic, where Wander Franco’s trial is being held, announced that they are going to issue the final decision on the case Thursday afternoon.

Documents that prosecutors presented to the judge last year and were viewed by The Associated Press alleged that Franco, through his mother Yudelka Aybar, transferred 1 million pesos ($17,000) to the mother of the minor on Jan. 5, 2023, to consent to purported abuse.

Franco was in his third major league season when his career was halted in August 2023. He agreed to an 11-year, $182 million contract in November 2021. He is currently on Major League Baseball’s restricted list after initially being placed on administrative leave.

Prosecution Seeking Five Years Jail Time For Wander Franco of Tampa Bay Ray

Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco, on trial in the Dominican Republic, is facing five years in prison, according to what the prosecution is asking for.

Per Juan Arturo Recio of ESPN on social media (translated via Google).

LAST MINUTE.

Prosecutors are seeking a five-year prison sentence against Wander Franco for sexual abuse, commercial sexual exploitation, and human trafficking of a minor.

They are also requesting payment of a fine of 10 minimum wages against the player.

The defense is seeking to get the case dismissed entirely.

From a baseball standpoint, Franco is on the restricted list and is not being paid currently by the Rays. He cannot travel from the Dominican Republic, either, which has prevented any possibility of him playing in the United States. He hasn’t played since August of 2023 when allegations surfaced of him having an relationship with a minor in his home country. There are real questions about if he’ll ever play in the big leagues again. Major League Baseball won’t even start their own investigation or make their own ruling about Franco’s status until the legal proceedings are done in the Dominican. Given that Monday served as closing arguments, that could be coming soon.

Should he not be able to play again, the Rays would seem to have legal ground to go after some or all of his record-setting 11-year, $182 million contract.

The 24-year-old Franco was an All-Star in 2023. He hit .281 with 17 homers and 58 RBI prior to these allegations arising and ending his season.

The Rays are 43-35 on the season and currently in possession of the second wild card spot in the American League.

Freed Belarusian dissident details torture, urges release of prisoners

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

EXCLUSIVE — Belarusian dissident Siarhei Tsikhanouski is free after spending more than five years as a political prisoner, and now he is calling for those still behind bars to be released.

In a video message played before the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva on Thursday, Tsikhanouski makes a desperate plea for international intervention.

“I was tortured, I was held in solitary confinement, I was frozen. I wasn’t even given a pen to write a few words. For years, I didn’t receive a single letter, not even from my daughter. They filled my ears with lies and propaganda. They tried to convince me that everyone had forgotten me. What is happening in Belarusian prisons is not law enforcement. It is torture, abuse, and the destruction of human beings. People are literally being killed behind bars,” Tsikhanouski said in the video, which was provided to Fox News Digital by UN Watch.

Siarhei Tsikhanouski calls for international action in his video message to the United Nations.

Tsikhanouski credited the international community — especially the Trump administration — for his release, which was secured after U.S. Special Envoy on Ukraine and Russia Gen. Keith Kellogg met with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko. In addition to Tsikhanouski, 13 other political prisoners were released through U.S. mediation.

The Belarusian dissident said in the video that he would not have made it out alive if it were not for “international solidarity” and “the efforts of the USA administration.”

FREED HOSTAGE EDAN ALEXANDER THANKS TRUMP IN EMOTIONAL PHONE CALL: ‘YOU SAVED MY LIFE’

In his first address as U.N. special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Belarus, Nils Muižnieks warned that, since Jan. 2025, the human rights situation has “continued to deteriorate.” He also noted that authorities in Belarus have abused “highly problematic” legislation, including a prohibition on insulting the president or other public officials.

“Belarus has a very large number of people behind bars who should not be there, including opposition politicians, human rights defenders, journalists, independent trade union activists, environmental defenders and lawyers,” Muižnieks said before Tsikhanouski’s video was played. He also described the ill-treatment of prisoners by Belarusian authorities.

After the council heard Tsikhanouski’s message, Muižnieks said that the recently-freed dissident’s words “carry extra weight.”

Following his release, Tsikhanouski was reunited with his wife, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, and their children in Lithuania. Tsikhanouskaya is the exiled Belarusian opposition leader whom some countries recognize as the president-elect.

Tsikhanouskaya thanked President Donald Trump, Kellogg and the State Department for their efforts, which led to her husband’s freedom.

“My husband Siarhei is free! It’s hard to describe the joy in my heart,” Tsikhanouskaya wrote on X. “We’re not done. 1,150 political prisoners remain behind bars. All must be released.”

UN Watch Executive Director Hillel Neuer joined the call to see the remaining 1,150 prisoners gain their freedom.

“Siarhei Tsikhanouski is a symbol of courage who paid a heavy price for daring to challenge Lukashenko’s dictatorship. United Nations Watch is honored to give him the floor at the UN Human Rights Council just days after his release from prison. His voice, silenced by the regime for more than five years as he was tortured in jail, now speaks for millions of Belarusians who continue to demand freedom and human rights,” Neuer told Fox News Digital.

Neuer said Tsikhanouski’s message to the U.N. was “a direct challenge to the regimes that continue to silence their critics.”

Thursday, June 26, also marks the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. Tsikhanouskaya wrote on X to mark the occasion and shared a photo illustrating the effects that five years in prison had on her husband.

“Today is the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. My husband survived five years of isolation and cruelty in the Belarus regime’s prisons. Many others still endure it. If we had given up, Siarhei wouldn’t be free. That’s why we keep going—until everyone is home,” Tsikhanouskaya wrote.

According to NPR, Tsikhanouski lost more than 41% of his body weight. He went into prison weighing 298 pounds but weighed just 174 pounds when he was released on June 21.

In response to a request for comment on Tsikhanouski’s statement, UN Human Rights Council spokesperson Pascal Sim directed Fox News Digital to a recording of the hearing, particularly Muižnieks’ remarks.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone ended ‘nasty’ feud to make money

When bulked-up 1980s action stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone were among the biggest celebrities on the planet, they often liked to bad-mouth each other in the press.

“We hated each other,” Schwarzenegger said last week on Radio Andy, Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show. “We were attacking each other, and saying nasty things about each other.”

But The Terminator star revealed that he and Stallone decided to bury the hatchet for a simple reason. Both entrepreneurial, they saw an opportunity to make a lot of money by working on a movie-related project together.

Remember Planet Hollywood? It was a themed restaurant chain filled with movie props and memorabilia.

It was launched in New York City in 1991, soon boasted 60 locations worldwide and was known for its famous celebrity backers, who prominently included Schwarzenegger, Stallone and Bruce Willis.

In addition to his fame as Conan The Barbarian and the future governor of California, Schwarzenegger, 77, also has long been known as a savvy businessman.

Schwarzenegger said he began working with restaurateur Robert Earl, known for expanding the Hard Rock Cafe franchise globally, and film producer Keith Barish to create a new entertainment-themed restaurant chain – one that celebrated Hollywood mythology and glamour.

“And the next thing I know, I get a call from my lawyer, who was also Sly’s lawyer, and he said, ‘Arnold, is there any kind of room for Sly on Planet Hollywood?’” Schwarzenegger recalled.

“I said, ‘That’s actually a good idea, because that could bring us together, and I wanted that,” Schwarzenegger said. “At that point I had grown out of my craziness.”

“So, sure enough, we made it work,” Schwarzenegger said. “Then Bruce Willis became part of Planet Hollywood, then Whoopi Goldberg became part of Planet Hollywood, then Chuck Norris.”

The rivalry between these two self-described “alpha males” began in January 1977, when both were seated at the same table during the Golden Globe Awards, Stallone told Variety in 2017.

After Schwarzenegger received the award for best acting debut for his 1976 film Stay Hungry, he began “gloating.” Stallone then noticed Schwarzenegger laughing when he lost the best actor for his starring role in Rocky.

But Stallone said he got the last laugh when when Rocky won best picture. He also revealed that he picked up a big bowl of flowers and heaved it in Schwarzenegger’s direction.

“I went, ‘OK, the gauntlet is down,’” Stallone said. “This began a 10-year battle royale. I mean, we couldn’t stand to be in the same galaxy.”

But ultimately the feud came to an end, after Stallone said they realised they’re both “the same person.”

Unfortunately, the Planet Hollywood glory didn’t last too long. Amid financial problems due partly to a reputation for lackluster food, the company filed for bankruptcy in October 1999, and the number of locations began to decline.

As of May 2025, though, three Planet Hollywood restaurants and four hotels continue to operate.

But Schwarzenegger and Stallone eventually made several movies, including The Expendables 2 in 2012, which also featured Willis and an ensemble of other aging male action stars such as Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme.

The two men also have long been known for their conservative politics, though Stallone said he’s never identified as a Republican.

Meanwhile, Schwarzenegger has long been a registered Republican, though he also has been on the record since 2016 as vehemently opposing Donald Trump and endorsing Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.

Stallone did not appear to publicly endorse Trump in the 2024 election. However, following Trump’s victory in November, Stallone attended an event at his Mar-a-Lago club, where he praised him as a “second George Washington” and compared him to his character Rocky Balboa, Variety reported.

To thank Stallone for his support, Trump announced that the “Rocky” star would serve in a new role as “Special Ambassador to Hollywood,” sharing the title with pro-Trump actors Jon Voight and Mel Gibson. – The Mercury News

At least 8 dead after hot air balloon accident in southern Brazil

CNN
 —

At least eight people are dead following an accident involving a hot air balloon in Brazil’s southern region of Santa Catarina on Saturday, according to the local governor.

“We are all shocked by the accident involving a balloon in Praia Grande, this Saturday morning. Our rescue team is already on site… So far, we have confirmed eight deaths,” local governor Jorginho Mello said on X.

He said 21 people were on board; the other 13 survived.

Video posted to social media shows a hot air balloon catching fire while in the sky. The balloon then deflates and falls to the ground.

“We saw two people fall from above, and soon after the basket broke, and the balloon fell,” an eyewitness told local media outlet Jornal Razão.

The eyewitness said she ran to see where the balloon fell and saw two survivors, “a woman covered in mud and in a state of shock, and a man with her who was limping,” as well as two bodies.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed his solidarity with the families of the victims on X. “I would like to place the Federal Government at the disposal of the victims and the state and municipal forces that are working on the rescue and care for the survivors,” he said.

Praia Grande is a common destination for hot-air ballooning, a popular activity in some parts of Brazil’s south during June festivities that celebrate Catholic saints such as Saint John, the Associated Press news agency reports.

“My solidarity with the city of Praia Grande… We are in mourning. It’s a tragedy that happened. We will check the developments, what happened, and why it happened,” Mello said in a video statement on X.

According to CNN affiliate CNN Brasil, Saturday’s incident was the third involving a hot-air balloon in Brazil in less than a week. Last Sunday, a balloon carrying 35 people – which did not have authorization to fly – fell in São Paulo. One person died and the pilot was arrested.

Last Thursday, another balloon fell on the coast of São Paulo, although no serious damage was caused and no homes were hit.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
